Why Buy a 20’ Shoe Base Aluminum Flagpole?

Sometimes, an in-ground commercial flagpole isn't feasible due to building codes or other circumstances. In these cases, a base-mounted flagpole with a shoe base can be a good solution! Shoe-base aluminum Flagpoles mount into a concrete pad or base using a ring secured to the concrete using sturdy anchor bolts.

Shoe-based flagpoles should not be installed on existing concrete surfaces like sidewalks but on a new concrete pad. If you install one into existing concrete, chemical anchorage or epoxy bolts are advisable. Shoe-base flagpoles are not recommended for higher elevations or building rooftops. You should consult an engineer of record before installation; please remember to allow enough clearance for trees, power lines, and buildings.

Freedom and Glory's 20' Shoe Base Aluminum Flagpole is a good choice for one—to two-story buildings and can withstand winds of 270 mph when not flying a flag. It comes complete with a 5" gold ball ornament, a single revolving truck, 40' of white polyester halyard, two covered snap-hooks, a 9" aluminum cleat and the shoe base, and four anchor bolts.

Please note: a Shoe-Base Aluminum Flagpole is robust but 10–15% weaker than an embedded flagpole. However, the base-mounted flagpole design allows you to install these commercial flagpoles in settings where an in-ground model would be impossible. When you order a flagpole, it will be delivered on a freight truck, which typically requires someone to be present to receive the shipment. For a 20’ flagpole, we recommend flying a 3’ x 5’ flag for a clean, professional appearance. However, if you'd like to fly two flags on the same pole, you can combine a 3’ x 5’ flag (15 sq ft) with a smaller 2’ x 3’ flag (6 sq ft), totaling 21 square feet. This combination maintains the maximum recommended flag area for a 20’ pole (24 sq ft) while preserving balance and avoiding excess strain.
