September 11th was a day that changed the world as we knew it; Al-Qaeda’s attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon rocked our country to its core. However, through the ashes, American resiliency showed through as people from across the nation joined together to display true American spirit.

Who doesn’t love a great American-made product? Whether it be a vehicle, clothing, or various other goods such as patriotic items – namely U.S. flags, flagpoles, and other various décor to put your patriotism on display. Buying American-made items boosts the economy, which has a butterfly effect on other things that are impacted due to support from people like you! When the U.S. economy is boosted, numerous jobs are created and maintained for future generations.

Extraordinary change requires extraordinary people. These four individuals we have chosen to highlight here at Freedom and Glory persevered through their hardships and vocalized a need for change and reform, creating the American education system we have today.

In the aftermath of September 11th, medical experts worried about the long-term health ramifications. The people in lower Manhattan that day — and the immediate days following — were surely exposed to asbestos. Thus, they were in danger of developing the rare cancer known as mesothelioma.

Every year we celebrate the birth of one man who had a dream that we can live in a country where everyone is treated equally regardless of their race. It is a valid enough reason, but let’s dwell on the topic further and explain why we celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. day in more (interesting) detail.

The Beacon® Scholarship for Rural America, which Freedom and Glory introduced in 2018, had another great group of applicants to choose from for the Fall 2021 scholarship. We received applications from 15 out of the 50 U.S. states including: Arizona, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and Texas.

Emma Kitchin, of Newland, N.C., is the recipient of the Spring 2021 Beacon® Scholarship for Rural America, a scholarship that was introduced by Freedom and Glory in 2018. We received applications from states across the country, including New Jersey, Tennessee, Michigan, Arizona and California. Kitchin is a shining example of community patriotism that continues to thrive in rural towns today.

Each year on either the second or the third Saturday of December, hundreds of volunteers and businesses partner to place wreaths on veterans’ graves throughout the nation. Known as “Wreaths Across America Day,” this year’s event will be held on December 19th at 2,400 cemeteries. It has become an annual tradition of remembering our nation's fallen heroes during the holiday season.

At Freedom and Glory, our mission is to help support and bring communities together across the United States. We honor the American spirit by providing American-made products that build and promote patriotic, corporate, and individual pride while helping our customers enhance their permanent facilities and special events. Freedom and Glory also feels it is important to assist community organizations as they raise money for and awareness of their special causes.

At Freedom and Glory, we have had the pleasure of providing American-made U.S. flags and patriotic, special event, and custom-made products to schools across the country since 1980. Whether we provide customer service to an elementary school, high school, or college, we know students would not be able to succeed without the hard work and tireless dedication of their teachers. One of our top priorities is to support teachers and students across America through our ongoing educational support projects.

Taking history class can be boring as you learn date after date and event after event for which you have no personal connection. But for six lucky Chapel Hill-Carrboro students, they have become friends with two WWII veterans and history doesn’t seem so distant anymore.

Freedom and Glory Industries’ continued success has allowed it to give back to the MS community through their annual donations to fund MS research. Freedom and Glory’s latest donation of $70,000 to the National MS Society will help improve the lives of those living with MS. Dwight and Lynne Morris launched Freedom and Glory out of their Oak Park, IL, home in 1980, six years after Lynne was diagnosed with MS. The Morris family worked hard to provide flags and patriotic products to communities across America, and in 1987, Freedom and Glory and the Morris family relocated to Hillsborough, NC.
