Shoe-base aluminum flagpoles are designed like highway light poles, with an aluminum flange bolted securely into a concrete pad or base. They are popular for parking lots, playgrounds, sidewalks, and other applications where an in-ground commercial flagpole can't be installed.

Shoe-base flagpoles should not be installed into existing concrete surfaces like sidewalks but in a new concrete pad. If you install one into existing concrete, chemical anchorage or epoxy bolts are advisable. Shoe-base flagpoles are not recommended for higher elevations or building rooftops. You should consult an engineer of record before installation; please remember to allow enough clearance for trees, power lines, and buildings.

Freedom and Glory's 30' Shoe Base Aluminum Flagpole is a good fit for a three—to four-story building and is rated for wind speeds up to 270 mph when not flying a flag. Included are a 6" gold ball ornament, single revolving truck, 60' of white polyester halyard, two snaphooks with covers, a 9" aluminum cleat, and the shoe base, along with four anchor bolts.

Please note: while shoe base aluminum flagpoles are rated for high wind speeds, they are about 85–90% as strong as an embedded flagpole. Their main advantage is their flush-mounted flagpole design, making them a good pick for situations where an in-ground commercial flagpole would not be feasible. What size flag should I fly with a 30’ pole?

We recommend flying a 5’ x 8’ flag with a 30’ flagpole for a balanced, professional appearance. If you’d like to fly two flags, the total flag area should not exceed 40 square feet. For example, you could fly a 4’ x 6’ flag (24 sq ft) and a 3’ x 5’ flag (15 sq ft) for a total of 39 square feet.
