Our 3x5' 15-Star United States Flag is ideal for outdoor display during an event or holiday celebration as well as for everyday display. Featuring 15 stars and 15 stripes, this flag is the only flag of our great country to have more than 13 stripes. In honor of Vermont (1791) and Kentucky (1792) joining the Union, two stars and two stripes were added to the then 13-star, 13-stripe United States flag. This flag is also known as the inspiration for the penning of the Star Spangled Banner National Anthem. The 3x5' 15-Star United States Flag is known as the Fort McHenry Flag and inspired the 1814 penning of the United States National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, as we know it today. In 1818, Congress proclaimed that for each state that is added going forward, one star would be added and that the number of 13 stripes would remain to symbolize the 13 original colonies. Constructed of lightweight yet durable nylon, this 15-Star United States Flag features appliqued stars, sewn stripes and is finished with a white canvas heading and two brass grommets.
