Full Product Details for Our White Wire-Core Pre-Cut Halyard Rope:

Add an extra level of security to your flag display with white wire-core halyard rope from Freedom and Glory. Featuring a wire center surrounded by braided polyester, this specialty flagpole rope combines the performance of traditional halyard with added resistance to cutting and tampering.

Our white wire-core pre-cut halyard offers:

  • A wire center for added security and cut resistance
  • Durable braided polyester surrounding the wire core
  • A strong option for commercial, institutional, and other public flag displays
  • Classic white construction that complements most flagpole finishes
  • Three thicknesses to accommodate different flagpole sizes: 1/4", 5/16", and 3/8"
  • Convenient pre-cut lengths: 40', 50', 60', 80', 100', or a 500' spool

Your halyard should generally measure approximately twice the height of your flagpole. For example, a 20' flagpole typically requires 40' of halyard rope. Selecting a pre-cut length makes it easier to get the amount needed for your flagpole without purchasing unnecessary excess rope.

When your flag display calls for more than standard rope, wire-core halyard provides an added layer of protection while maintaining the clean appearance of traditional white flagpole rope.

Why Choose Wire-Core Flagpole Rope?

Wire-core halyard is designed for flag displays where added security is a priority. A wire center runs through the braided polyester rope, making the halyard more difficult to cut than standard flagpole rope. This makes it particularly useful for flagpoles in public or easily accessible locations where theft, vandalism, or tampering may be a concern.

Like any flagpole component, halyard should be inspected periodically for signs of wear or damage. Replacing compromised rope before it fails can help prevent your flag from falling to the ground or becoming damaged.

If your existing halyard is still properly routed through the pulley system, you may be able to use it to guide the replacement rope through the flagpole. Because wire-core halyard contains an internal wire, take additional care when cutting and handling the rope during installation.

Choose white wire-core halyard when your flag display requires dependable performance with an added level of security against cutting and tampering.

Frequently Asked Questions About Wire-Core Flagpole Halyard

Wire-core halyard is flagpole rope constructed with an internal wire center surrounded by braided polyester. The wire makes the halyard more difficult to cut than standard rope, providing additional protection for flag displays in locations where security is a concern.

As a general rule, your halyard should be approximately twice the height of your flagpole. Our pre-cut lengths make it easy to select rope for many common flagpole heights.

  • A 20' flagpole typically requires 40' of rope
  • A 25' flagpole typically requires 50' of rope
  • A 30' flagpole typically requires 60' of rope
  • A 40' flagpole typically requires 80' of rope
  • A 50' flagpole typically requires 100' of rope

If your flagpole falls outside these common sizes, visit our wire-core halyard page to find the amount of rope required for your setup.

Wire-core halyard is a strong choice when your flagpole is installed in a public or easily accessible area where unauthorized cutting, theft, or vandalism could be a concern. The internal wire adds cut resistance that traditional braided rope does not provide.

For most everyday applications where additional security isn't necessary, standard braided polyester flagpole rope is typically the more practical choice.

The correct halyard thickness depends largely on the diameter of your flagpole. To estimate the diameter, measure the circumference around the base of the pole and divide that measurement by 3.14. A flagpole with a 12" circumference, for example, has a diameter of approximately 4".

As a general guideline, flagpoles measuring 2"–4" in diameter typically use 1/4" rope, poles measuring 5"–9" typically use 5/16" rope, and flagpoles measuring 10" or more generally require 3/8" halyard.
