History of the Gonzales Flag 

In October 1835, settlers in the small Texas town of Gonzales refused to surrender a cannon to the Mexican army. Instead, they raised a homemade banner, a black star above a cannon, with four words that would echo through history: Come and Take It. 

That simple challenge marked the first battle of the Texas Revolution. It was a declaration of resolve. Ordinary people standing up for the right to self-governance. Nearly two centuries later, the Gonzales Flag remains a proud emblem of independence and perseverance.
